Biography

Dayenne obtained her master's degree in Applied Cognitive Psychology at the University of Utrecht in December 2020. During this year, she did her graduation internship at Noldus in Wageningen, where she looked at the facial expressions people show when experiencing the emotional state ‘engagement’, in order to write a new algorithm for a software program that automatically recognizes emotions.
During her master thesis at TNO Soesterberg she set up a completely new research in which she looked at an underlying physical mechanism that seemed responsible for both the optical illusions that F16 pilots experience during night flying over a war zone, and vertigo with vestibular diseases like Ménière disease. The focus was on the mismatch between what you see and what you feel (vestibular organ) during movement. During this internship her interest was aroused in working for Defence, and she started looking for a supporting position within Defence. from february 2021 till february 2023, she was working as a research assistant at the Brain Research and Innovation Centre of the Ministry of Defence.

Activities

Dayenne mainly focused on setting up a project that focused on 'cognitive enhancement', which means looking at ways to make military personnel more resilient to stress, in order to reduce stress-related symptoms (such as PTSD), and increase employability.
