Daan Langeveld has been working as a PhD candidate and junior researcher at the Expertise Centre of the MGGZ since April 2026, in a joint appointment with the University of Groningen.
He obtained his International Bachelor in Psychology from Leiden University, including an exchange semester at the University of Aberdeen (Scotland). He subsequently completed the Research Master in Clinical and Health Psychology at Leiden University. During this program, he also took additional courses in methods and statistics and completed an extracurricular internship. Throughout his training, he collaborated with several research groups, including those of Dr. Michiel van Elk (PRSM Lab), Dr. Marc Molendijk, and Dr. Kim de Jong.
His interest in the military developed early on. After serving for two years on the board of the “studentenweerbaarheid” K.L.S.V.t.V.O.i.d.W. "Pro Patria", he joined the Royal Netherlands Navy Reserve in November 2024. He continues to combine this role with his PhD research.
Overview of projects within BRAIC
Within the Expertise Centre MGGZ, Daan focuses on developing a preventive intervention for Dutch military personnel. The aim of this intervention is to reduce PTSD symptoms by strengthening social support, a factor strongly associated with PTSD according to current literature.
