L.R.W.M. (Louis) Douin MSc.

Biography

Louis has been working as a Research Assistant at the MGGZ Centre of Expertise since August 2026. After completing his Bachelor's degree in Biology in Utrecht, he pursued an MSc in Neuroscience at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). Louis has a broad interest in neuroscience and scientific research. During his first Master's research internship at the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience (NIN), he investigated synaptic depression between the cortex and thalamus using whole-cell patch-clamp electrophysiology. During the second year of his Master's, he completed an internship at Sanofi, where he gained insight into the industry and the process of translating scientific discoveries into medicines and bringing them to market. As part of this internship, he also conducted qualitative research into the role of general practitioners in the care of patients with progressive multiple sclerosis.

At the MGGZ is Louis is involved in the PATROL study, where he contributes to the practical execution of the study and conducts measurements with participants.
